What would you suggest are the best TOR Cisco switches for 10gb iSCSI? They will be dedicated to that task. Currently we are using 3750g-48's in a four switch stacked configuration. I realize these switches are not necessarily recommended as a great option for high-performance iscsi networks, but that was not my decision at the time.
We were originally going to go with Force10, due to discounting based on other hardware purchasing. However we may be moving in a different direction with the server hardware, and definitely are with the SAN's, so there has been an opportunity to explorer other options for switching. We are 95% Cisco throughout and I know the preference is stick with them, but I am also realize that Juniper, and NetExtreme have some strong contenders in this space.
If we stick with Cisco, is the 5k Nexus line going to work for us, or should we be investigating something other then cisco for the iscsi networking? There will be no intention of utilizing core switching for this, or I would likely suggest a 6500 with modules to accommodate for the improved line rate speed and guarantee a certain level of performance.
Your opinions and suggestions are welcomed. I should add though, Procurve's or Dell 6xxx switches are out of the question. Only Force10 from Dell would be considered.

Aug 04, 2006 SCSI Logical Unit Number (LUN) discovery is the final step. The semi-manual discovery method requires an additional intermediate step. All iSCSI sessions are classified as either discovery or normal. A discovery session is used exclusively for iSCSI target discovery. All other iSCSI tasks are accomplished using normal sessions.
See full list on kb.iu.edu. Small Computer System Interface, or SCSI (pronounced scuzzy), is a set of standards for physically connecting and transferring data between computers and peripheral devices. The SCSI standards define commands, protocols, and electrical and optical interfaces. SCSI is most commonly used for hard disks and tape drives, but it can connect a wide range of other devices, including scanners and CD.

Symptom: When attempting to associate a service profile that has iscsi boot, get: Will cause a configuration failure of: Service profile. Failure reason: iSCSI config issues, probably invalid settings for macaddress, vlan, overlay vnic, initiator identity or initiator-target password pair Faults logged are: Warning>F16995>analyze-impact-failed>FSM:STAGE:RETRY:: Analyzing changes. Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) targets include disks, tapes, and other storage devices. These targets do not register logical unit numbers (LUNs) with the name server. The name server requires LUN information for the following reasons: To display LUN storage device information so an NMS can access this information.
